Mr. Henry Berry Dead
Passed Away on the 3rd Following a Stroke of Paralysis
Mr. Henry Berry died at his home near Mallory on the night of the 3rd instant following a stroke of paralysis with which he was stricken while conversing with friends on the streets of Latta that day.
Mr. Berry accompanied by his wife, spent the Thursday preceding the day on which he died at the home of Mr. S. W. Jackson in Dillon and appeared to be in his usual good health. He went to Latta Friday where it was his purpose to spend the day with friends.
Mr. Berry was 69 years of age and his life was spent on his farm near Mallory. He served in the Confederate army, having enlisted in Gregg’s battery when he was only 16 years old. He was first married to Miss Nancy C. Jackson who died in the year 1869 and in 1874 he was married to Miss Amanda Greenwood, who also preceded him to the grave. From these two marriages six children were born all of whom survive him: Mrs. T. C. Walters, of Richmond, Va.; W. V. and A. F. Berry, Mrs. F. M. Haselden, Mrs. A. A. Morris and Mrs. T. W. Stanton. In 1898 Mr. Berry was married again to Miss Aura George, who survives him.
The internment was made at Bethesda Church on Sunday morning.
